Yadkin Riverkeeper

Yadkin Riverkeeper seeks to respect, protect and improve the Yadkin Pee Dee River Basin through education, advocacy and action. We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization, funded by individuals and foundations who share our commitment to promoting a clean and healthy river that sustains life and is cherished by its people.
Yadkin Riverkeeper seeks to accomplish the following:
    Sustain a RIVERKEEPER© program
    Measurably improve water quality
Bring legal action, if necessary, to enforce state and federal environmental laws
Teach and practice a "river ethic" of ecological respect to all ages
Yadkin Riverkeeper is a licensed member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, which connects and supports local Waterkeeper programs to provide a united voice and to champion clean water issues around the world.  Waterkeeper Alliance seeks to protect fishable, swimmable and drinkable waterways worldwide.
Yadkin Riverkeeper is a member organization, with memberships starting at just $25. We welcome you to join us in protecting the Yadkin River for ourselves, our children and future generations.

Hike-A-Thon is Piedmont Land Conservancy’s new effort to raise funds and awareness for local land conservation.  We are looking for dedicated folks to commit to a New Year’s Day hike at a PLC-related property and then ask friends, neighbors, coworkers and family to sponsor their hike and commitment to conservation!  Thanks to our sponsor,  100% of the money raised during Hike-A-Thon will be used for conservation efforts right here in the Piedmont!  We have ten suggested hikes, with the trails at the Knight-Brown Nature Preserve being our main site.  Hikes for all skill levels are available (and you can hike elsewhere if you like).  You can register as an individual or create a hiking team with family, co-workers or other groups. Help us make this event a success in our first year!  Connect with nature, stand up for conservation and make a difference!
